Apple Mac- iPhoto transfer help!?
Im trying to move my photos from iPhoto to a memory stick, it does not work simply dragging the photos to a memory stick from iphoto, so i looked on the apple website and it told me to export them to the desktop and then drag them into the memory stick, i did this , but when i dragged the photos into the memory stick it said [copying - 54minuites left] but it stayed this way fro 20 miniutes and was not doing anything, so i just had to force shut it down. Anybody have a clue? (by the way its a 16gb memory stick and the files are only just over 1GB
Try doing it one file at a time. There is no specific “situation” that causes it, but some file copy/moves don’t play nice with Finder. I’m more used to seeing it if someone is copying over like thousands or tens of thousands of files in one move. That tends to not play nice. But that doesn’t sound like your situation. None the less, just see if that plays nice at all.
Otherwise, maybe something weird happened with the export to desktop. So how about this instead; right click on a photo in iPhoto and use the reveal in finder option (or its in the menu options, I forget). Then drag and drop the file(s) from that finder window onto the mounted memory stick. Its a little less “Mac” of a way to do it, but it might help as well.
Oh also, since you had to do a forced shutdown, do a normal shut down now. Then restart. This will just reset things better. The reboot off a forced shutdown sometimes doesn’t clear out the cobwebs properly.
